THE GREAT KERNOW KOASTER
Charity fundraising for Larf Cornwall:
includes Kayak Challenge and
Charity walk of 221 Miles

Martyn Mortimore
Hi my name is Martyn Mortimore I am 28 years old. I was born in Plymouth but moved away to Portsmouth shortly after birth, I moved to Cornwall back in 1998 due to family. Since I have been in Cornwall its become my home, a place that ive grown to love. In that time ive been to Junior and Secondary School in South East Cornwall followed by employment with Cornwall Council before leaving to join Callington Town Council.
I have also had a passion to raise monies for charities, one's i've helpt before are Cancer Research and Clic Sergeant. With these charities ive hosted coffee mornings as well as doing the Big Bucket collection.
Although im not actually walking i will be driving the support vehicle and doing the media relations, updating our Facebook page, Website, Twitter and connecting with various media I.E. Radio and Newspapers. I am also doing the majority of the research. the reason im doing this part is I feel I can offer more to the team by using what media skills I have to promote the charity walk. I am also the brains of the group, as you may see.
I was looking forward to taking part in the kayaking, but unfortunately i was signed off work for a couple of months with a bad back and have had to reassign myself as support driver again.

David Lloyd
Hi My name is David Lloyd and if there is one thing I like is to get involved in a good event to help support charities close to my heart, I've know all the guys on this event for nearly 15 years and in that time we have had many things happen that are close to our hearts and minds like the charity that we are doing this walk for, I have taken part in several mad cap runs my last in Germany running in Europe's hardest marathon, so to that end we are looking to cover nearly 205 miles of the costal path to raise money for a local Cornish charity, and make it a challenge for all.

Arron Pengelly
Hi My name is Arron Pengelly. Together with Mike, we thought of doing this walk since school. The idea of doing this walk and raising money for L.A.R.F Cornwall only makes me want to achieve this goal to the best of my ability. I am Cornish through and through, and I am extremely proud to be a part of this team of guys ready to embark on a Cornish walk and for a Cornish charity. I work for Cormac, and I travel the county far and wide, and I cannot wait to see the beautiful sights that Cornwall has to offer us.

Rich Austin
Hi I’m Rich. For some time I have wanted to be involved in a charity event that is cancer related, after seeing my Nephew go through chemotherapy for leukaemia. I was really impressed what the original 5 achieved on their walk, i felt i wanted to be involved and joined the team to help achieve more.

Michael Mahoney
I was very proud of our teams efforts, during our walking event. And when I saw the room at Treliske hospital. This has spurred us on to do more to make another charity event.
Because we now have a bigger team, its been harder to gather for meetings and concequently no training really happened. But hey weve been here before.
Since the last event, I found out that I had a bowl disease called colitis. Which in turn, has caused me to undergo two extensive surgeries. Unfortunately this has left me with a stoma and I have to wear a stoma bag. I have undergone a correctional surgery and hopefully I have one more operation to go to finalise this.
This hasn’t stopped me from wanting to achieve success, with this kayaking event., although I know a certain amount of being uncomftablity is almost certain.
I cant wait to get this event underway. I feel like I owe the other lads for not being at my best on the last event.

Jordan Perry
Hi my name is Jordan Perry. I am 17 years old. I aim to bring the youth to the team. I'm a Cornish lad through and through and I can't wait to raise money for L.A.R.F Cornwall, as I like the thought of raising money for a Cornish charity. I look forward to seeing areas of Cornwall that I yet to visit and see what our duchy has to offer.

Simon Barton
My name is Simon Barton and I am in the forces. Like many people nowadays both myself and my family have been directly affected by Cancer, so it is very close to my heart.
This is my first charity event, but with my 50th fast approaching I thought what better time to do something for this amazing charity and try and help in any way I can! I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead and raising as much money as we can, hopefully without putting myself in the knackers yard along the way....

Cameron Mahoney
Hi I’m Cameron. For some time I have wanted to be involved in a charity event that is cancer related, after seeing my little brother go through chemotherapy for leukaemia. I originally wanted to be involved in the walk from St.Ives to Millbrook. Unfortunately I was to young to participate. But now I’m 17. I’m able to take part in this kayaking event now so I can help the team achieve their goal.

Adrian Roberts
Hi I’m Adrian. Unfortunately i was unable to take part in the Charity walk due to work commitments, but i was glad to be asked by the team to join them for the Kayak Challenge. Like Rich i wanted to join and challenge myself and help the team achieve their goal.
